EITC - Educational Improvement Tax Credit

In 2001, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania established the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Act (EITC). This program allows YOU (individuals and businesses) to donate the exact amount you pay in state income taxes to the Christian school of your choice, and the state government credits 90% of your donation through a non-refundable tax credit.

It’s simple. Complete a one-page “Joinder” form and select the amount of contribution you wish to make. Your EITC Counselor will guide you through the process. Once the Joinder is submitted, the state will issue a PK-1 Form to be used as a credit toward your current year’s tax liability.

For example, when you contribute a minimum of $500, the donation goes directly to student tuition. The EITC program grants you a tax credit, resulting in an out-of-pocket expense. For the cost of $50, you made a $500 gift to help a child, and in some cases, even the $50 is federally tax deductible.

EITC - Educational Improvement Tax Credit

It sounds too good to be true – an actual government benefit without strings attached. The truth is, the EITC program is a simple, unique, and effective way to create meaningful change with little impact on your finances. In actuality, it’s pennies on the dollar.

Through this program, you’re simply receiving a state income tax credit to be used for your current year’s tax liability, thereby investing in a brighter future for our youth.

It is important that you review last year’s state taxes and discuss them with your Tax Preparer or CPA to determine your state taxes. This step will help you identify the exact amount you want to donate.

If you decide to exceed that amount, the remainder of your tax credit can be added to your itemized federal income tax deduction. Now, you have the power to make a difference, and together, we can help reshape the landscape of education today.

The  Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC program provide donors with a tax credit for their donations to nonprofit Scholarship. A scholarship donation for through 12 students can earn a 90% tax credit for a one-year commitment. A one-time donation for Pre-K students can result in a 100% tax credit.

Any individual or any corporation who pays PA income tax is eligible. The minimum donation to join is $500.

$750,000

Use the steps listed above and make sure to email requests to eitc@paconference.org or call (484) 662-7046.

Only 10% of the donation through EITC program is potentially deductible when filing federal income taxes.

Your donation will net you a 90 cents on the dollar tax credit off your state income tax liability. These are dollars that you would already be paying to the state of Pennsylvania. It also allows the donor to support the schools and local community.

Your donation plays a vital role in allowing all students the opportunity to attend a Chistian school regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay. The school then designates which qualified students are provided assistance.

Usually the out of pocket cost is 10 cents on the dollar or $100 for every $1,000 that is donated.

Joinders can be submitted year-round.  You should discuss what works best for you with your EITC counselor.  Email: eitcpaschools.org.  Phone: (484) 662-7046.

No, but it does go to the school or schools of your choice.
